New Amsterdam – Three Dots – Review: Bureaucracy!

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.

Three Dots, aka, the three little dots indative of Max finally beginning his journey to getting treated for his throat cancer.

MAX’S TREATMENT

It’s time for him to begin radiation therapy. Three little dots adorn his face as Helen begins prepping him for the impending trauma. Max hasn’t told the staff yet and he isn’t keen to, but as Helen points out, soon he’ll be vomiting uncontrollably and taking his meals through a tube.

Needless to say, people are going to notice.

Review: New Amsterdam – 1×02

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Last week we were introduced to the hectic world of New Amsterdam and its ever changing policies ushered forth into the new era by the latest medical director, Max Goodwin. We were casually introduced to all the main players of the series and we left off with some big revelations.

This week, Max is on a mission to stick to his mandate of making New Amsterdam a better place. Iggy is dealing with a tricky case involving a child drowning in pharmaceuticals. Floyd’s pride is tested and Helen struggles with the emotional swells of being a doctor.

Advance Preview: New Amsterdam – 1×02

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

In the season premiere of New Amsterdam we were introduced to the main characters of the series, with Doctor Max Goodwin being one of the latest entries to the hospital as the latest medical director. Max wasted no time in implementing new policies and creating some substantial shake-ups: including firing the entire cardiac team – except Doctor Floyd Pearson who will now be tasked with rebuilding cardio from the ground up and making it better.

New Amsterdam has the arduous task of debuting into an oversaturated genre. It is yet another medical drama competing with Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor, The Resident, and Chicago Med. In addition to treading over the graveyard of a plethora of other medical dramas that didn’t make it past one season in the recent years due to said genre bloat. So what does New Amsterdam have going for it to set it apart from its competition and predecessors?
