Happy Together – Like Father, Like Son – Review

When Claire’s away the boys will play I guess. This week Jake’s father, Mike, is in town, played by Damon Wayans Jr’s real dad, Damon Wayans. Claire is out of town redesigning a sports bar and she’s sad to miss out. Actually, after she remembers how weirdly in sync Jake and his dad are, she’s not that cut up about it. But she is sad to miss out on her and Jake’s Saturday night ritual… aka a little sex and a lot of Ben & Jerry’s.

Review: Happy Together – Pilot

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The 2018 Fall TV season is officially underway and two more new CBS sitcoms hit the airwaves tonight. Happy Together being the latter of the two.

A new sitcom is almost a rarity on a network stuffed with reboots and revivals, and while maybe not wholly original in the sense that we’ve certainly seen this premise before, I found it a lively debut and a breath of fresh air as far as CBS sitcoms go.

Advance Preview: Happy Together

It’s that time of year again folks! Fall TV. All the networks are flexing their latest new series, and we’re in that great, sometimes awkward, period of trying on pilots to see which ones fit.

CBS has a bundle of new sitcoms launching this fall. I’ve sampled all of them and Happy Together is one of the stronger contenders in the bunch. It’s not a wholly original premise, we’ve seen this type of found family, set-up before (and I’ll admit that is one of my favorite television tropes so maybe I’m biased), but I find that it induces a nostalgic factor that makes this show something akin to comfort food. I felt warm and fuzzy watching and I genuinely enjoyed myself. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve nursed a soft spot for Amber Stevens West since her Greek days either.
