Sam Raimi’s new horror anthology series 50 States of Fright finds its cast

Quibi is shaping up to be the next streaming service to beat. Sam Raimi’s upcoming horror anthology, 50 States of Fright, will be hosted on the site.

We recently reported that Quibi would feature an intriguing twist on the house-flipping television we all know and love by introducing a true-crime element. But that’s not the only spooky series you’ll be able to watch on the upcoming streaming platform. Deadline reports Quibi has given Sam Raimi the green light for his new horror series.

The show will be an anthology titled 50 States of Fright. It boasts an impressive cast, including Christina Ricci, Travis Fimmel, Rachel Brosnahan, Jacob Batalon, Ming-Na Wen, Taissa Farmiga, Asa Butterfield, Ron Livingston, and John Marshall Johns. Each actor listed will star in at least one episode of 50 States of Fright.

NYCC: The Grudge (2020) debuts new footage and the cast teases lots of gore

NYCC is going on this weekend, and during The Grudge (2020) panel, the stars of the film discussed just how terrifying the twisted remake will be.

If you’ve ever seen the original Grudge films, whether it be the Japanese movie Ju-On: The Grudge or the American remake starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, you know how terrifying these movies are. Next year we’re getting a brand new take on The Grudgebrought to us by horror master Sam Raimi and director Nicolas Pesce.

During The Grudge panel at NYCC, Raimi, Pesce, and film stars Betty Gilpin, Andrea Riseborough, and Lin Shaye assembled to tease what to expect from the next chapter.

Not all sequels are bad; don’t get us wrong. But it’s hard enough to make a genuinely impressive horror film, nonetheless a sequel. The general public scrutinizes horror more than any other genre, often unfairly.

Many people think that if they’re not personally scared to death, then the movie is terrible. They don’t take into account things like being desensitized or if the story was good.

Sequels are graded even more harshly. Let’s face it, Hollywood loves churning out paint-by-numbers sequels, reboots, and remakes because they know it’ll make money, even if it is bad. It’s not unreasonable for people to be apprehensive about sequels and continuations, no matter how much they love the franchise.

Netflix’s creepy docuseries is returning for a second season very soon

Season 2 of Netflix’s eerie docuseries, Haunted, is debuting on the streaming service in time for Halloween. Make sure you leave your lights on.

Last year Netflix had great success with its anthology series based on real-life horror stories. Each episode of Haunted features someone who has experienced something terrible recounting their stories. The retellings are paired with dramatizations that are sure to leave you spooked.

Season 1’s stories included children terrorized by a woman in white, a daughter who believed her father might have been a serial killer, slaughterhouse haunts, and more. Netflix recently released the trailer for the second season of the docuseries and it looks like things are getting even creepier this season.

The Birch follows a monstrous creature who only comes when summoned. She executes revenge for the summoner. The series will unfold from multiple character perspectives. Each main character will have their own individual encounter with the Birch when she emerges from the woods.
